CBORD Improves Diet Office Communications with Socket Manager
For Immediate Release
April 28, 1999Ithaca, New York—Communications between the hospital information system (HIS) and the diet office are simpler and faster thanks to CBORD’s new Socket Manager, a new interface product for CBORD’s Diet Office software. Designed to direct the movement of data between the HIS and the diet office, Socket Manager simplifies these communications and provides users with faster response times.
Socket Manager was designed to ensure that the flow of data between the diet office and the HIS is handled in an efficient manner, providing users with rapid communications and the ability to run multiple interfaces from a single work station. "Sockets are the preferred method for interfaces in nearly every implementation we’ve done over the past two years," said Karen Nocera, Interface Projects Manager at CBORD. "This is a great tool to standardize hardware on a newer platform—a big driving force for Y2K compliance for many healthcare facilities."
In addition, Socket Manager is easy to use and quick to install. "An interface analyst will walk clients through implementation right over the phone," Nocera said. "With an active interface, it’s certainly possible for the system to go up in less than a day."
Users of early versions of Socket Manager report hassle-free installation and improved communication across the board. Users at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, use socket manager to link their HIS to CBORD’s Diet Office software. "Socket Manager has worked really well for us," said Jeff Ketcham, Nutrition Services Computer Support Manager. "In addition, we have had very good support from the CBORD Clinical Interface team."
Socket Manager is available through the CBORD Group. For sales information call 607/257-2410, email sales@cbord.com, or visit CBORD’s web site at fms.cbord.com.

“The biggest advantage I have seen is the support of the software as well as the integration of the system. It is faster and more efficient than the competition and truly has assisted us with improving our Press Ganey scores.”
