October 11, 2005
Ithaca, New York—Employees of The CBORD Group, Inc. of Ithaca, NY have raised $42,264 for the 2005 United Way of Tompkins County Campaign. The company was a Pacesetter, conducting its campaign before the rest of the county kicked off the Community Campaign on September 15.
Carissa Barillaro, CBORD’s campaign chairperson, says the company’s goal for the campaign was to raise $30,000.
"Many employees had recently made donations to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and we thought that might affect our United Way campaign," she says. "We were pleasantly surprised by their generosity! Our employees dug deep and made sure the United Way received their support. The response was truly amazing."
CBORD also provided a partial match on top of each employee donation.
CBORD has been working with United Way of Tompkins County for 14 years, and has been a Pacesetter Company for the past five years. John Alexander, the company’s founder and Chairman of the Board, serves on the United Way of Tompkins County’s Board of Directors and County Chairs’ Roundtable.
