Wesley Towers, Inc., is a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that is a leader in providing comprehensive health and retirement services to the Hutchinson/Reno County, KS, community. GeriMenu Makes Foodservice Easier
Wesley Towers has one main kitchen and three satellite kitchens that provide various meal options for residents. Each location uses GeriMenu to prepare meals utilizing the hundreds of proven recipes included in the Recipe module. As recipes are chosen and meals are prepared, GeriMenu automatically tracks and updates Wesley Towers' inventory information. The software even recommends reorder quantities based on past usage and portion forecasts; GeriMenu then creates a draft order for review, making it easy to keep track of the items and quantities that need to be ordered. Administrators at Wesley Towers are planning to implement GeriMenu’s Purchase Order component soon, which will produce vendor-specific purchase orders as supplies begin to run low, making inventory replenishment even easier.
In their Health Care Centers, Wesley Towers uses GeriMenu to produce resident-specific tray tickets. Based on menus and residents’ preferences, these tray tickets detail what each resident will receive for meals. The production tallies give the kitchen staff the exact numbers for production, thereby reducing food waste. Wesley Towers also uses GeriMenu to create customizable nutritional analysis reports, a powerful feature that ensures that all recipes are up to quality standards. Nutritional requirements can even be taken into consideration on GeriMenu menus and tray tickets, so residents are only offered meal choices that suit their specific needs.
Creative Programs with GeriMenu
In addition to daily meals, Wesley Towers serves approximately 140 hot meals a day for Meals on Wheels with the help of GeriMenu. Wesley Towers also uses GeriMenu for all special meals and holidays, when recipes can be more complicated and require extra planning. Wesley Towers also takes advantage of GeriMenu's capabilities with their unique Country Store. The Country Store is a service for residents who wish to purchase food items in smaller quantities than at a grocery store. For example, a resident may order one stick of butter or a few slices of bread instead of having to buy standard amounts of such items. The resident places an order before 10:00 am and picks it up after 1:00 pm at the kitchen door, making it easy for the individual to get what he or she wants and needs. GeriMenu’s flexibility helps Wesley Towers offer creative solutions and programs for residents and the community.
